I can’t stop raving about Grace Kays’ senior session. It truly embodies the JW senior experience. Right from the get-go, when we met at our first location, I knew it was going to be a fantastic shoot. Grace and her mom, Paula, were bursting with excitement, even at 8 am in the morning. Their energy and laughter were infectious! We began our adventure at one of my secret spots, a serene hidden beach, perfect for that organic vibe. With beach and water surroundings, plus the adorable hat Grace wore, the pictures near the boats turned out absolutely perfect. And let’s not forget the infamous staircase nearby, one of the most unique spots and just ideal for Grace. We had limited time in these spots since they’re in a gated community, but the Kays family was up for the adventure.
Grace changed in my trusty portable changing tent, and off we went to our next location. One thing that makes the JW senior experience special is that locations are always unique! Our next spot was quite unexpected—a little ice house, like the ones you cozy up in after a day of ice skating or hockey. Surprisingly, it worked wonders for senior pictures, exuding urban and classy vibes. We snapped shots incredibly fast because Grace is so photogenic.
Grace’s orange top with white pants was just perfect! Mixing both neutral and colorful outfits always ties a senior session together. Achieving outfit variety is the key! Interestingly, our next location was the outside of a doctor’s office. As we were taking pictures, one of the doctors came out (Grace was totally smitten since he was “SOOO CUTE,” according to her). I couldn’t stop laughing throughout the session. It might have seemed random, but the photographs turned out beautifully. The neutral background complemented Grace’s vibrant personality perfectly.
Finally, Grace changed into her last outfit, and we literally walked across the street to another parking lot, this time outside a bakery! We captured some stellar shots in about 20 different spots in this one parking lot. Oh, how I love turning “ugly” backgrounds into beautiful settings for senior sessions.
We wrapped up the session with lots of hugs, and I bid farewell to Grace and Paula—truly some of the best clients I’ve ever had. They were so trusting, spontaneous, and always ready to have a good time and laugh!
